Here/ There outlines the futile process of capturing the emotional resonance of a place embedded in memory. Motivated by an irrational fear of forgetting, Gloria articulates what she largely fails to remember. She traces her memories of materials, expanding on the original domestic functions of windows and curtains as devices which frame and filter, to explore placemaking as it relates to othering. The rendered landscapes are imagined, diverging from her own recollections and the (often undocumented) reality of the past. What results are "facts" embedded in multiple visual cultures that define domestic place as stable, constructed, and embellished and geographic place as precious, unstable, and separate from us.

As part of this living exhibition, Gloria will be working in the gallery each day between July 29th and August 1st.
